”Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”(2 Corinthians 3:17)

The United States has been symbolized as a country of freedom and liberty. New York City hosts the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island. This city has attracted people that have wanted a new and better life. People from many countries have migrated to America and live in places like the city. This liberty is in search of living and employment opportunities. It is to gain a life without poverty and general constraints.

God speaks of a liberty for believers in Christ Jesus. Believers receive His Holy Spirit and have power to overcome the constraints of sin and spiritual poverty. The Cross is the symbol of this freedom and liberty. It represents the old life gone and the new life in Jesus here to stay. People from every language, tribe, and nation are expected to migrate to belief in Jesus. God’s Spirit will confirm their liberty to serve and worship Him only.

A believer’s freedom and liberty has given them the opportunity to live life to the fullest. Jesus came to give this abundant life. Believers relying upon their relationship with God will find that their search for spiritual nourishment is completed. The liberty is not to do what they want to do or live according to the old sinful life. It is to live the life of love toward God and others. Poverty of spirit is replaced with the richness of spiritual blessings that overflow wherever they live physically.

Challenge: Believer, be an instrument of liberty for others. Others may be locked in a spiritual prison. God has given you a key in Jesus to set them free from the bondage of sin and death. Utilize your freedom to share the good news as a sign of love to God and others. You are a vessel of the Holy Spirit and have been set free as a symbol of liberty whether you live in a city or town.
