There are many wines to enjoy at the annual Vintage Ohio

Northeast Ohio is one of the premier regions in the United States for the growing of grapes and the making of wine. In fact, this region of Ohio has the distinction of being one of the very few areas in the country that can produce ice wine.

Clevelanders have the chance to celebrate Ohio wineries and the quality wines that they produce at the 20th annual Vintage Ohio Wine Festival being held on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 at Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland, Ohio, located approximately 25 miles east of downtown Cleveland.

Vintage Ohio Expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors, Vintage Ohio will play host to 16 wineries from around Ohio who will offer more than 150 vintages for sampling and purchase by glass or bottle.

Area wineries that will participate at this year's Vintage Ohio include Barrel Run Crossing Winery & Vineyard, Buckeye Winery, Candlelight Winery, Debonne Vineyards, Grand River Cellars Winery & Restaurant, Grape & Granary, Humble Bee Vineyards, It's Your Winery, John Christ Winery, Klingshirn Winery, Maize Valley Winery, Old Firehouse Winery, Old Mill Winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, Valley Vineyards and Vinoklet Winery.

Other activities at Vintage Ohio include live musical entertainment, cooking school demonstrations and children's entertainment. Regional artisans and crafters will be there to offer items for sale and visitors will be able to sample cuisine from regional restaurants and caterers.

Friday evening activities include a huge fireworks display (weather permitting).

Vintage Ohio guests will have access to all regular Farmpark activities including ice cream making, milking demonstrations, cheese making, border collie demonstrations, a hydroponics garden tour, animal encounters and pony rides. Lake Metroparks Farmpark will not be open to the public during Vintage Ohio.

Hours for Vinatge Ohio are 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. both Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2.

Advance tickets may be purchased. Advance Adult Sampler tickets are $30. Adult Sampler tickets at the gate are $35. The Adult Sampler ticket includes 25 wine samples. Admission for Designated Drivers is $12 which includes entry to the Festival, a souvenir plastic cup and 5 soft drinks from the designated driver tents. Designated drivers may not sample any wines. Admission for visitors 3-18 is $3. Children under 3 are free.
