Raymont Anderson talked about his upbringing. In his words, “When I was a child, both of my parents drank heavily. Of the two, my mother would have been what people call the angry drunk. She was verbally abusive and confrontational while under the influence, this lead to many arguments mostly between my parents. My father was a loud drunk and would tend to yell and often times say things that were condescending, like ‘Don't you have any common sense? Think!’ There were not a lot of beatings but those that did occur were at the hand of my mother. That coupled with the drinking, animosity and resentment that she developed towards my father when he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. Thanksgiving day was a day I hated as it always ended in my mother drunk and berating and belittling my father! For years I hated her for this!”
Therapy opened Raymont’s eyes.
He discussed, “In 1985, during my late teens, I witnessed an 11 year old cousin kill his mother's boyfriend. As a result of this trauma and another altercation, I was taken to a mental hospital for observation. After 9 days, I was released but had to continue seeing a therapist. It was while seeing this therapist I was told my childhood was an abusive one.”
Later, after his dad died, his spiritual journey evolved.
Raymont shared, “I began a more in depth study of spiritual principles, authentic living, empowered holistic living and I realized I was still allowing energy vampires to abuse me. Some were family, some were friends and others were associates or business relations. I decided then to start working on boundaries!”
His life now, “Today I live a life of conscious choice, freedom, and wholeness. I learned to forgive and let go! In 2011, I quite my full-time job to live in accordance with my passion. I surround myself with supportive family and friends, which means some of them are loved from a distance. I have clear and healthy boundaries. I no longer socialize with people who are not in alignment with my energy. This is what led me to becoming a Reiki master, an ordained interfaith/inter-spiritual and New Thought, Metaphysical minister and life coach, among other things.”
