Themes of Destiny, Love, Danger, Fantasy and Redemption Resonate with Audiences

The current Disney release, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Cirque de Soleil Worlds Away, have shown that audiences look towards the movies for fantasy and a larger-than-life experience as shown by the attendance numbers.

The world of Cirque du Soleil transcends time and place in Worlds Away created by a phenomenally talented and gifted team using the latest technology of 3D. Filmed in Las Vegas and combining seven live Cirque shows -- "O," KÀ, Mystère, Viva ELVIS, CRISS ANGEL Believe, Zumanity and The Beatles LOVE – a circus love story emerges staring Cirque du Soleil strap aerialists Igor Zaripov (The Aerialist) and former cirque artist Erica Kathleen Linz (Mia) as the young couple caught in this nether land.

In Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away, Mia stumbles into upon a dilapidated circus (much like the lead character in Oz the Great and Powerful) and makes a connection with a very handsome Russian aerialist. In both movies, the lead characters enter into a world of fantasy and adventure, but still encompasses a love story.

“In working in a space like this like Ka,” said Linz, “which has such an immense performance area, and suddenly you are in front of these cameras with this amazing technology which is not only going to be huge but it is also going to be 3D so that everything needs to be dialed back to this small and subtle, almost internalized, style of performance.”

“These resident shows here (in Las Vegas),” said Leu Strope, producer, “are bigger than you can do in the big top and we happen to have enough variety to make it the perfect place (to film).”

Oz the Great and Powerful is based on L. Frank Baum's Oz novels and is the prequel to Baum's novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and MGM film, “The Wizard of Oz and is currently in theaters.

Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away is presented by Paramount Pictures and Academy Award® winner James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic).Tthe film is produced by Cirque du Soleil producer Martin Bolduc, Adamson and his Strange Weather Films’ partner Aron Warner with Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away is captured in 3D by executive producer Cameron and his CAMERON | PACE Group partner Vincent Pace, the film’s 3D executive producer.
