Theatre Lawrence hosts volunteer fair

Theatre Lawrence announced today that they plan to host a volunteer service fair, beginning at 5:30pm, Thursday, May 27, at the theater in Lawrence, KS where attendees will view a brief presentation followed by breakout tables for further information, a Theatre Lawrence spokesman said.

Theatre Lawrence’s Volunteer Fair, includes a brief presentation at 5:30, followed by breakout tables that provide information on different areas of interest throughout the Theatre. Participants will be able to learn a little bit about the various positions, and the time commitments needed for each area. Participants will gain a greater understanding of training in any given area and how it can fit into their schedules. The hour will conclude with a Sneak Peak Backstage and a tour of the building for newcomers, Steve Fendt, volunteer coordinator, said.

Theatre areas of volunteering that will be covered, requiring varying levels of skill sets include:

  • Assistant Directors and Stage Managers
  • Follow spot operators
  • Light Board operators
  • Sound Board operators Makeup and Hair crew

Show running crews:

  • Front of House volunteers
  • Box Office and ticketing attendants
  • Lead Usher
  • Ushers
  • Concessions/ Refreshment volunteers
  • Scene shop Volunteers
  • Set Painting
  • Set construction
  • Props Coordinators
  • Costume Construction and organization


  • Gardeners
  • Fundraising and party planners
  • Youth Education Volunteers
