CBS’ leading daytime drama, “The Young and the Restless” which just recently celebrated its 40th year on the air will be moving to a new cable network. The long running soap has called Soapnet its cable home for the past several years. Each week day same day episodes are re-aired twice. Starting Monday July 1, “Y&R” will air exclusively on TVGN (TV Guide Network).
If you are a soap fan and miss an episode during the day, you’ll have two additional opportunities to catch up. Starting Monday July 1, same day episodes will every week night at 7 p.m. with an encore episode the following day at 10 a.m.
To mark the occasion, TVGN will air two one hour specials, the first, Countdown to the Young and the Restless on TVGN will allow fans to interact with the cast. A live studio audience will get a Q & A with the cast on set. The questions start just before the TVGN premiere at 6 p.m. The next special hosted by “Y&R” star Kristoff St. John takes viewers onto the “Young and the Restless” set with interviews with cast. That special airs at 6 p.m. “The Young and the Restless” currently airs weekdays in Atlanta at 3 p.m. on WGCL-TV on Comcast channels 9/809 an AT&T Uverse channels 46/1046.
The move to TVGN comes just after CBS acquired a fifty-percent interest in TVGN. “Y&R” isn’t the only CBS property to take advantage of the partnership. The daily companion to the reality competition “Big Brother,” “Big Brother After Dark” also airs on TVGN from midnight to 2 a.m. TVGN can be seen in Atlanta on Comcast channels 27/127.
