It'll be an interesting day in Genoa City when Dylan arrives in town. The character makes his debut today when Steve Burton joins the cast of "The Young and the Restless" as the war veteran and ex-lover of Avery, played by Jessica Collins.
The Emmy winning actor spent nearly twenty years playing "General Hospital's" Jason Morgan airing weekdays on ABC, something that the actor his hoping that daytime fans will forget when Dylan's on the screen.
“I know that persona is out there,” Burton said in an interview with EW about being Jason. “You can’t erase it in a day. But I’m going to do everything I can to not wear black. I’ll make my hair a little different! Maybe people will buy it. But some people will be, ‘you are Jason and that’s it.’”
Burton's charcter heads into a triangle situation as Dylan's former love is now with Nick (Josh Morrow). The actor is no stranger to triangles as GH fans followed the Elisabeth-Jason-Sam triangle for years, ending only when Burton left the show in September. Although he misses his former co-workers and crew at "General Hospital," Burton's looking forward to what's ahead.
“It is weird. It is bittersweet in a way," Burton told EW. "I loved GH. I loved my time there and the people there. But it was also time for something new in my life, a new challenge.”
