Fans of “The Young & the Restless” have been hit with a couple of major shockers when it comes to the Cassie look-alike this week. Not only is she working with Ian Ward, she happens to be Tyler's ex-girlfriend Mariah. Viewers are anxious for “The Young & the Restless” spoilers about what lies ahead with this storyline, and on Tuesday TV Guide dished out some details.

Jill Phelps tells TV Guide that those with “Y&R” very quickly decided that they wanted to find a way to keep Ray Wise, who plays Ian, around for longer than originally intended. That led them to the Mariah connection, but there are even bigger things in store. Phelps teases that June will be “huge and very crazy” when it comes to this character and his storyline. In addition, She Knows Soaps has teased that there will be a lot involving Ian throughout the rest of May sweeps too.

Just how are Mariah and Ian connected? Phelps plays a bit coy with that one, indicating that Mariah may well have been one of Ian's disciples, perhaps a very key one. When asked if Mariah might be Ian's daughter, Phelps replies “Well… Perhaps in some form.”

Ian remains focused on the Newman family, as he sees an opportunity there. At this point, however, it is clear that he has a plan even bigger than simply getting under the skin of Victor and his family. Viewers should expect escalating drama between Ian and Victor with some big scenes to come.

As for Mariah, Phelps says that the writers decided that fake Cassie would be Mariah the day she was first mentioned by Tyler. She will be a big threat to Tyler and Abby's relationship, and Mariah will continue to meddle with Nick and Sharon's lives as well. It is teased that she is a “wild girl,” and her presence will affect many in Genoa City.

As for Mariah seemingly feeling sorry for what she did to Sharon, that's not going to last for long. Phelps teases that “There are no limits to what this woman will do to get what she doesn't have.” She also refers to Mariah as a loose cannon. This girl is no Cassie clone.

From the sounds of things, Mariah's presence in Genoa City is going to have a sizable impact on many people. How will fans react to it all? So far people are definitely shocked, which is surely exactly what Phelps was going for at this point. Tune in to “The Young & the Restless” airing weekdays on CBS to see just what happens next.
