There has been exciting news all summer for CBS soap “The Young and the Restless.” There was an announcement that Michael Fairman and Tricia Cast would be returning for a memorial service, and “Criminal Minds” star Shemar Moore will be returning for a short stint. Fans are excited about the upcoming weeks on their favorite soap. According to an August 4 report from TV Guide, Meredith Baxter will be joining “The Young and the Restless” cast. Baxter's official air date is September 8.
Meredith Baxter will play the role of Maureen on “The Young and the Restless.” Rumors are that Maureen will have connections in Genoa City, but her main interaction will be with Nikki Newman. Fans know that Nikki is going to be drinking once again, and that is where Maureen will fit in because she is her drinking buddy. There is plenty of mystery surrounding Maureen's appearance in Genoa City, but there are no spoilers available which link her to anyone other than Nikki.
Most recently Meredith Baxter has been seen on the MTV teen drama “Finding Carter.” She plays the role of Carter's real grandmother, but has only been seen a few times since the series began. Others will recognize Baxter as Elyse Keaton from the sitcom “Family Ties.” She has held plenty of roles throughout her career, but Elyse Keaton is definitely one of the most recognizable.
It looks like the next several weeks on “The Young and the Restless” are going to be eventful. Fans are looking forward to figuring out Maureen's ties, although some of them are bored with the Nikki drinking again story line. Many feel as if it is played out. Meredith Baxter will debut in her role in about a month, and she will be seen in Genoa City throughout fall. There are plenty of layers to unwrap, so the story line will play out at least for the next several weeks.
