Fans of “The Young and the Restless” have had a rocky year. Casting shockers have upset the way things were supposed to go, and many are unhappy with several of the choices made. Jill Farren Phelps is at the helm of choosing who plays who and the hiring and firing of some beloved characters. Last year, the soap lost Micheal Muhney who played Adam Newman. According to a May 25 report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, rumors that another Adam Newman has been hired are incorrect. Phelps is struggling with a recast after revealing that Newman is still very much alive.

There was a huge scandal last year at “The Young and the Restless” where Michael Muhney was accused of groping his co-star, Hunter King. While that has never been clearly resolved, fans are very much split on the issue. Several people spoke up in defense of Muhney and Jill Farren Phelps experienced extreme backlash over the firing.

Rumors have been flooding social media about Jill Farren Phelps approaching Michael Muhney and asking him to reprise his role. While it has not been confirmed, speculation is that Muhney declined the offer. Many fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure over Muhney's departure. Several of them tweet about it using the hashtags “michaelmuhney” and “teammuhney.” There is hope that Muhney will turn up on another soap, and rumors have been swirling about him following Michelle Stafford to “General Hospital.”

If you ask fans about “The Young and the Restless” in recent months, many will tell you Jill Farren Phelps is ruining the soap. Billy Miller, David Tom, Michael Muhney, and Michelle Stafford have all vacated the premises. While Phelps did manage to snag Gina Tognoni and Steve Burton, they aren't enough to appease some very angry fans. As the wait for the new Adam Newman heightens, it appears that Phelps is in a race against time.
