The Young and the Restless” has had fans buzzing for the better half of a year. From casting upsets to behind the scenes angst, this show has it all. Recently reports have been circulating about Jill Farren Phelps and her quest to replace Michael Muhney as Adam Newman. It hasn't been easy for Phelps, especially dealing with the backlash from a huge fan base. According to a May 31 report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Michael Muhney was spotted at “The Young and the Restless” studio not long ago. Does this mean that Phelps is admitting she made a mistake?

Back in December 2013, Jill Farren Phelps fired Michael Muhney over claims that he was sexually harassing Hunter King. There were never any formal charges filed and the backlash over the entire event has had a ripple effect. There are several fans who are boycotting “The Young and the Restless” because they feel like Muhney was treated unfairly.

Twitter has been going wild since news of Michael Muhney being at “The Young and the Restless” studio broke. From viewers who stopped watching to loyal fans of the show, everyone is excited at the possibility of Adam Newman returning with Muhney as his portrayer. For weeks the show has been showing Newman's hands only, but that can only continue for so long.

While no official statements have been made by “The Young and the Restless” or Michael Muhney, it looks like the rumor may have substantial truth to it. Fans are hoping that because Jill Farren Phelps was unable to fill the shoes Muhney had as Adam Newman, Phelps did reach out and offer Muhney his job back. Regardless of what side of the fence fans sit on, everyone will agree that there was never anyone who could have replaced Muhney as Newman.
