'The Young and the Restless': Ray Wise slickly stains the daytime screen

Ray Wise poetically portrayed dastardly devils in the past. His current character on 'The Young and the Restless' masterfully projects the same slick slime through the daytime screen.

Famous for a variety of roles, nighttime soap opera fans surely recall Wise's turn as 'Leland Palmer' on the ABC series 'Twin Peaks' that Mark Frost and David Lynch created over two decades ago. This time around, Wise is responsible for helping to revive a beast from this steamer's ancient past.

'Nikki Newman' (Melody Thomas Scott) has been through the wringer on countless occasions. As hard as it is to believe, her often-guilty husband 'Victor Newman' (Eric Braeden) can't be blamed for her current dilemma. However, everyone can guess how the 'Dark Knight' will respond as soon as he learns what Ward is plotting.

'Nikki's' involvement with the New World Commune was painted as naivete. How fitting, based upon soap logic, that her granddaughter 'Summer Newman' is allowing herself to be drawn into 'Ward's' twisted world. And yes, Hunter King's character does have Newman blood flowing through her veins, even through that aspect of her biology has yet to be reconfirmed by Sharon Case's onscreen namesake.

'Nick Newman' (Joshua Morrow) and 'Dylan McAvoy' (Steve Burton) created a cliffhanger confrontation at 'Ward's' temporary abode last week. But, this one-way fight won't be settled by these two battling brothers because this engaging storyline has just gotten started.
