'The Young and the Restless': Elizabeth Hendrickson's departure opens doors

'The Young and the Restless' has undergone multiple major cast changes within the last year. Elizabeth Hendrickson's recently announced departure will remove her character from Genoa City by May. The move will open professional doors for this passionate actor and alter at least a few storylines of daytime's still top-ranked show.

'Chloe Mitchell' has always been feisty. Depending upon the personality of the receiver (viewer) one might cheer for this vixen, or boo her. But, only those who undervalue the efforts of soap opera performers would try to claim that the Emmy-nominated actress didn't fully embody 'Esther Valentine's' (Kate Linder) daughter.

Hendrickson performed exactly as she should through six years of dramatic scenes. Whether 'Chloe' was aggressively pursuing 'Billy Abbott' (Billy Miller), engaging in morally-challenged adventures with 'Kevin Fisher' (Greg Rikaart) or doing everything with everyone else in between, her fans always knew that highly-emotional moments were in order.

'Kevin' has played the poor soul many times before. But, the 'Chloe' character isn't expected to be killed off. So, there shouldn't be any 'Jana Hawkes' (Emily O'Brien) arcs for him after his current love leaves.

The 'Delia Dies' storyline created rampant devastation in YR's early afternoon hour. Among the wreckage was 'Chloe's' friendship and professional connection with 'Chelsea Newman' (Melissa Claire Egan). However, the hopefully soon-to-arrive transformed 'Adam Newman' (insert unknown replacement actor's name here) will keep this new mom busy.

It's hard for some observers to be objective about Hendrickson's portrayal of such a super-charged character. Possibly her apt efforts hit too close to home? Keep that theory in mind during the veteran soap actor's final two months on this iconic show.
