The You Have a Purpose Project

The You Have a Purpose Project gained headlines by responding to Sullivan county Indiana special education teacher Diana Medley's rant that homosexual kids had "no purpose" in life. The Hoosier teacher prompted an outcry nationally as well as in Indiana. The project is headed by Annette Siegel Gross and Marie Siroky. Both are Indianapolis, Indiana residents.

The pair started a Facebook page about the project on February 15th, 2013, and began uploading videos soon thereafter. Since then, numerous others have uploaded their own positive videos telling LGBT youth that they did indeed have a purpose and were not worthless. The page now has over one thousand likes.

As of March 2013, plans were made to move to a unique website. The project organizers ask that if you want to take a video and contribute that you send it to them in a message via Facebook. They ask that you do not mention Medley's name and that you keep the video positive. The goal of the project is to provide support for LGBT youth.
