Janet, a yoga teacher and Reiki master, will focus on being more conscious in 2010 by eating, exercising and meditating with intention.
Atlantic City Yoga Examiner (YE): What is your health/fitness resolution for 2010?
Janet (J): To loose that last 25 pounds and to tone my arms and legs (they seem to jiggle a little more now)
YE: What methods will you use?
J: Being conscious--becoming aware of what I eat, when I eat and why I eat. I want to change my lifestyle. I will not go on “a diet” and won’t obsess about loosing weight. My main goal is to feed my body, mind and spirit.
I eat my main meal at lunch. In evening, I eat light-soup or juice. I also walk at least 2-5 miles a day, practice yoga and meditate.
YE: What data will you use to track your progress?
J: This moment my starting weight is 173. I weigh myself once a week. I also judge my weight loss by how my clothing fits. My defining success is my energy level and how I am feeling emotionally. It is like alcohol, when you have too much, your body has to take time to recover--it is the same with the foods we eat that we really should not.
YE: Have you already started your fitness routine?
J: My progress has started but I am not really tracking it--I am really focusing on being conscious, especially when I food shop. And when I slip, and I do, I allow it, forgive myself and usually feel like crap.
YE: Do you plan on involving your children?
J: Yes, I am hoping to include my daughter in this journey
