Well it's been another stellar year at The Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno.
This year (2013) was very interesting to say the least. Cisco Flores, the venues GM made a lot of staff changes early in the year, not that his staff was bad or anything, he just wanted a fresh start for the year to come.
There seemed to be more hip-hop, dub-step and dance music shows this year than before, but still had many great rock bands as well, just not as many in this examiner's opinion as previous years in the past.
This year the Knit retained all of the Reno News & Review's "The Best Of " categories they have held over the last couple of years, well actually since they opened on New Year's Eve 2009, (I was there).
The categories include, Best place to see a concert, Best place to hear loud music, Best place for live music and Best concert venue.
Some of the shows I attended were, (national acts) Hatebreed, Testament, Black Veil Brides, Volbeat, GWAR, Zakk Wylde, Limp Bizkit, Y&T, Michael Franti, The Used, In This Moment, Devildriver, Flotsam & Jetsam and The Sick Puppies, just to name a few.
There were also many local bands that played there too, weather opening for major bands or opening a local show, they include, Authmemtis Original Mind, Seasons Of Insanity, Scarlet Presence, The Kanes, Envirusment, Pain Clinlc, SoultorN, Determined, Hollywood Trashed and Courtesy Call. (see photo gallery) There's just to many to name.
Other shows include, Kip Moore, 10 years, Sleeping With Sirens, Awolnation, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Hollywood Dead, All That Remains, Hell Yeah, Nonpoint, Suicidal Tendencies, Face To Face, Lamb Of God, Trapt, Kottonmouth Kings, Zeds Dead, Portugal. The Man, Modest Mouse, Tech n9ne, Junip, Otep and Soulfly, there's way to many to name all of them.
All genre's play at the Knit.
Shanda Golden from "In the Vault W/ Shanda Golden" even shot one of her shows inside the Knit, Zakk Wylde was kind enough to be interviewed before his show later that night. To see the interview (click here)
A lot of great things happened at the Knit this year, let's hope that 2014 is even better.
Special thanks to Bruce Duff (Knit Management) and all the Knit staff for another fantastic year. Keep up the great work.
