The year 2012 has begun at Meadowlake Pet Resort!
Meadowlake’s “A New Leash on Life” Program accepted Ricky, from Barrio Dogs Inc, earlier this month. This sweet lab will undergo 30 days of free training and boarding at Meadowlake. The program will focus on basic obedience and manners in order to increase his chances of being adopted. Ricky has been with Barrio Dogs Inc since last January when he and his 2 sisters were found living on the streets of Pearland. They were taken in, vetted and given a healthy diet. Lucy, Ricky’s sister, was the first to find her fur-ever home. Now it is Ricky’s turn for his second chance at a happy life! Meadowlake’s “A New Leash on Life” Program has a new dog coming in every 30 days until the summer. The program started in October of 2010 with a dog named Mattie from Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue. Mattie was heavily matted and neglected when she was taken to the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC), by her previous owner. Mattie came to Meadowlake a little nervous around new people and situations, but thanks to Trainer Tori Hankey, CPDT-KA, she regained her confidence and found her fur-ever home!
Meadowlake Pet Resort has planned their 2nd Annual Pup-A-Palooza to be held on April 7, 2012. Pup-A-Palooza is an all day free event featuring adoptable pets from Houston area rescue groups, DockDogs, a weight pull, microchipping, Canine Good Citizen testing, low cost vaccinations, Frisbee Dogs, the 2012 North American Appraisal Tour presented by Boerboel International, local vendors and activities for the whole family.
Other pet friendly events Meadowlake will attend include Paws in the Park, Discovery Green and PetFest which all include a National DockDogs Competition. Meadowlake Pet Resort will also be hosting National DockDogs Competitions at their permanent DockDog Sanctioned Facility beginning this spring.
