Atlanta has many fan conventions to choose from every year. Here is a list of 10 that you might like to know about. One is outside of the area but still pretty close and a favorite with Atlanta sci-fi fans for many years so I've incldued it too. These are in order of when they occur so that one will be first;

January 24-26 - Chattacon- Chattanooga TN - This is the 39th ChattaCon Sci-Fi convention. Tobias Buckell is the guest of honor this year.

February 14-16 - Anachrocon - Steampunk and Alternate History- a personal favorite of mine with lots ot offer fans of history in general as well as alternate history nd steampunk.

March 14-16 - JOElanta GI Joe and Toy Convention - many dealers as well as panels and toy dioramas to explore

April 4-6 - 221B Con - everything Sherlock Holmes. This convention only started last year but it attracted quite a large crowd and was amazingly well-run and entertaining for a new convention. It is bound to be even better this year1

April 25-27 - Trek Trax -dedicated to Star Trek

May 23-25 - TimeGate - dedicated to Dr. Who StarGate and other sci-fi. This is another personal favorite!

Also May 23-25 - MomoCon- anime and gaming. Some of you may want to split your time between this one and TimeGate.

June 20-22 -Seishun Con - anime - very popular for costumers and Cosplay as well as offering celebrities and panels.

August 29-September 1 - DragonCon-the biggest convention of all! Sci fi and multimedia with 50,000 other fans and hundreds of guests!

September 25-27 - AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta)- everything anime

That's a start for your planning! Keep watching here for news of these and more conventions as the year progresses!
