"The X Factor" is an international franchise that began in 2004 in the United Kingdom, spread to other countries, and expanded even further in 2013. The countries that premiered their own versions of "The X Factor" in 2013 included Israel and Japan (which will crown their respective first "X Factor" winners in 2014) and New Zealand. In addition, a Spanish-language version of "The X Factor" launched in the U.S. that is a completely separate show from the English-language version of "The X Factor" in the U.S.
