We can now at least say that Simon Cowell is not firing everyone who was on "The X Factor" with him this past season -- after some debate, he has decided to keep L.A. Reid around.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, record executive Reid signed his contract for season 2 on Friday -- meaning that the show will once again have two people with experience in this facet of the recording industry in him and Cowell. While Reid is well-versed in how to make hitmakers, the biggest criticism of him as a judge was that he and Simon spent too much time trying to cut up one another's acts versus providing some sort of real criticism.
The report also says that Mariah Carey “is indeed being considered as show producers look towards strengthening their female and Midwest appeal.” However, Nick Cannon has already suggested that Mariah really doesn't need to do the show -- so in other words, get ready to see producers break the bank to try and sign her.
Are you glad to see L.A. staying put?
