"The X Factor" USA 2013 resumes Dec. 11 on FOX as the top four acts battle for a chance to compete in the Dec. 18 finals. According to odds posted to Bovada Sportsbook on Dec. 10, show creator Simon Cowell stands an excellent chance of emerging the victorious mentor, while Paulina Rubio's last singer standing is the longest shot of all.
Favored to win the competition with 1/2 odds are Alex & Sierra, the Fla. based boyfriend/girlfriend duo comprised of Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton. The cute as a button pair most recently topped the iTunes singles chart with their beautiful Dec. 4 take on A Great Big World's "Say Something," and wowed even Kelly Rowland with their remixed take on Destiny Child's "Say My Name."
Cowell's other remaining act, the manufactured country boy band Restless Road, is ranked second with 5/2 odds. After earning mixed reactions from the mentors for most of their previous offerings, the group's top six show version of Avicii's "Wake Me Up" drew tears and compliments from girls' mentor Demi Lovato.
With 5/1 odds, the last of Rowland's over 25s, Jeff Gutt, sits in third place. The single dad turned in a pair of technically pleasing covers in "Without You" and "Daniel" to advance to the semifinals.
Finally, the long shot of the bunch is Carlito Olivero of Rubio's boys' team. The aspiring performer sang for his life during the Dec. 5 results show, edging teen Rion Paige for the last available semifinal berth. Olivero's chances of winning the season three competition rest at 25/1.
