'The X Factor' U.K. open auditions in 2014; contestant minimum age lowered to 14

"The X Factor" U.K. has announced details of the show's open auditions for 2014. In addition, "The X Factor" U.K. has once again lowered the minimum age for contestants to 14 years old. The previous minimum age was 16 years old, during the years 2009 to 2013. The show's contestant minimum age was 14 years old from 2004 to 2008.

Open auditions and mobile booth auditions are not attended by "The X Factor" judges. Instead, "The X Factor" producers choose from these auditions which contestants will go on to audition for "The X Factor" judges. "The X Factor" U.K.

As of this writing Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole are the only two "X Factor" U.K. judges announced for 2014. The show's other two judges should be officially announced by May 2014. Louis Walsh (who has been with "The X Factor" U.K. since its 2004 debut) is expected to remain a judge on the show in 2014. Olly Murs, Alesha Dixon and Fergie are rumored to be among the candidates to become a judge on the show.

It has already been officially announced that Dermot O'Leary will continue to host "The X Factor" U.K. in 2014. He has been with the show since 2007.
