'The X Factor' U.K. 2013 Episode 11: Boys and Overs chosen for live episodes (Video)

On "The X Factor" U.K. episode that ITV televised on Oct 5, 2013, it was revealed which contestants in the Boys and Overs categories were chosen for the live episodes.

The Top 24 "X Factor" (six contestants from each category) who were chosen from boot camp went on to the "judges' houses" phase of the competition, where the Top 12 contestants (three contestants from each category) are selected by judges and guest mentors. The "judges' houses" episodes are previously recorded. The show's Top 12 contestants are the ones who perform in the live episodes.

Girls (female solo singers ages 16 to 24), mentored by Nicole Scherzinger

At judges' houses in 2013, Scherzinger was joined by guest mentor Mary J. Blige in Antigua. Barlow was paired with guest mentor Olly Murs in New York City. Osbourne teamed up with guest mentor Robbie Williams in Los Angeles. Walsh received help from guest mentors Sinitta, Nicole Appleton and former Westlife singer Shane Filan in St. Tropez, France.

The "judges' houses" episode for the Girls and Groups categories will be televised on Oct. 6, 2013. The live episodes are scheduled to begin on Oct. 12, 2013.

Boys

Paul Akister, 24, did a soulful version of Paolo Nutini's "Last Request."

Sam Callahan, 19, performed a slow version of fun.'s "We Are Young" that was at times off-key.

Luke Friend, 17, nervously sang Damien Rice's "Cannonball," while playing an acoustic guitar.

Ryan Mathie, 18, sang a passionate version of Pink's "Give Me a Reason" while playing an acoustic guitar.

Nicholas McDonald, 19, broke down in tears after his performance of Daniel Bedingfield's "If You're Not The One." Guest mentor Filan also got emotional and shed some tears, as Sinitta and Appleton got up to comfort McDonald.

Giles Potter, 18, did a pretty good version of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful."

Overs

Andrea Magee, 28, made an original move by playing the flute before she launched into Radiohead's "High and Dry," but her voice cracked when she hit a high note, and that blunder probably sealed her fate.

Zoe Devlin, 28, brought her cutsey/quirky voice to Coldplay's "Fix You."

Lorna Simpson, 26, did a very West End version of Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy."

Shelley Smith, 34, gave a sassy performance of Alicia Keys' "Girl of Fire," but at times Smith looked like she was trying too hard to be sexy.

Joseph Whelan, 27, did the Pretenders ballad "I'll Stand by You" with more of a rock edge than the original version.

Sam Bailey, 35, did a pitch-perfect rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing."

Based on viewer comments on the Internet, the contestants people think should not have been eliminated are Akister in the Boys category and Whelan in the Overs category.
