Tamera Foster has been predicted by oddsmakers to make it into Top 3 of "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013. Therefore, many viewers were probably shocked to find out that she was in the bottom two of getting votes, as revealed in the episode that ITV televised on Nov. 3, 2013. The other act in the bottom two was boy band Kingsland Road, which had been in the bottom two two weeks before this episode.
Foster performed Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing," while Kingsland Road performed James Morrison's "I Won't Let You Go."
"The X Factor" U.K. producers seem determined to have Foster makes it into the finals, so Kingsland Road was inevitably eliminated. All of the judges except for Barlow (who was Kingsland Road's "X Factor" mentor) voted to eliminate Kingsland Road.
Viewers may recall that Foster forgot the lyrics to "I Have Nothing" in her "X Factor" audition in front of the judges, but Foster was given special treatment by being allowed to interrupt her audition and go backstage and get help from her entourage in remembering the lyrics. However, Foster's performance of "I Have Nothing" in the sing-off was a massive improvement from her audition performance of the song. She outshone Kingsland Road on every level.
Barlow was obviously disappointed to lose two contestant acts two weeks in a row (girl group Miss Dynamix was eliminated in the previous week), and he had these parting words to say about Kingsland Road: "These guys were together two years before they joined us. They should stick with what they are doing. They are a hit band and they will be a hit band in the future. I am certain of it. I want to remind everybody out there that this is a singing competition. That’s all I need to say.”
Meanwhile in this episode, "X Factor" U.K. 2011 winner Little Mix returned to the show to perform "Move," the first single from Little Mix's second album, "Salute." Also performing on the show were Taylor Swift and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, who teamed up for the song "The Last Time."
At the beginning of the episode, the show's Top 9 contestant acts performed Shalamar's "A Night to Remember."
