Season three of “The X Factor” is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, September 11 with a two-night opener, and the Long Island Reality TV Examiner has an exclusive interview with Nick Tangorra, a “potential contestant” of the singing competition. On Tuesday evening, the soon-to-be 16-year-old singer from Bethpage discussed his budding career, album release and provided tips for those starting out in the music business.
Fans of “The X Factor”, along with anyone who has auditioned or knows someone who has, are fully aware that disclosure of show participation results in disqualification, which is the reason Long Island native and singing sensation, Nick Tangorra, wouldn’t commit to an answer when asked if he would be seen on the new season. Nick’s reply was simply, “you have to watch to find out.”
Nick made a celebrity appearance at a young designer’s NYFW debut at Stitch in New York City on Tuesday night to promote the release of his band’s first self-produced album, “Teenage Love & Other Stories”, with his brother Rafe and band mate Will Ahrens.
There is no doubt “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato will swoon over Tangorra’s good looks and charming personality, which is sure to be a hit with teen girls across the country when his album becomes available. The “potential” contestant, with Latin music origins, was gracious enough to sit down for a quick interview and answer a few questions.
LIRTVE: How did you get your start in the music business?
Nick Tangorra: My grandfather was my biggest music inspiration and best friend, and after he passed, when I was maybe 4-years-old, I connected with him after me and my brothers discovered he was in a doo-wop band. Ever since then we just loved music. I started in a Colombian folk music group (we are Italian and Irish and I still don’t know what I was saying to this day, but it was an amazing experience), to musical theater and now my brother and me are in a band.
LIRTVE: What tips do you have for people your age trying to break out in the music business?
Nick Tangorra: Never give up because there is going to be a lot of people that are going to tell you that it’s not going to happen, it’s not going to work out, just give up. It’s not about the money; it’s about making my dream come true.
LIRTVE: “The X Factor” is premiering tomorrow night. Have you ever auditioned for any of the reality shows?
Nick Tangorra: Oh yea, I have made my auditions. You just have to watch, I guess.
LIRTVE: Are you going to be on this year?
Nick Tangorra: (Coyly) I don’t know.
Nick wasn’t able to embellish the details of an “X Factor” appearance, however he did go on to admit he had only auditioned one time and that was when FOX’s reality show held auditions on Long Island at the Nassau Coliseum in April. Tune into "The X Factor" two-night premiere on Wednesday, September 11 to see if Nick Tangorra charms Simon, Demi, Kelly and Paulina, or not.
