‘The X Factor’: A proposal, a puppy love and Simon Cowell’s worst nightmare

The X Factor” brought on a few surprises last night as the show’s first auditions continued. There were some laughs, happy tears and even some puppy dog eyes directed solely at a certain female judge. It was all wrapped up into one episode that aired on Sept. 25.

The highlight of the music competition was the romantic proposal that was done on stage just as contestant Lauren Waguespack was belting out her rendition of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” Her new fiancé David Gray had already auditioned right before her as he told the judge’s that he was only there to support his girlfriend. He didn't get through the round but he got something better instead.

His plan was really to get down on one knee to ask for Lauren's hand in marriage and she said yes! However, the four judges said no to both of them but it sure didn't look like they were too sad about it.

What do they call it? Puppy love, of course! Judge Kelly Rowland became the object of Wesley Mountain’s affections as he clearly showed her his puppy dog eyes up close and personal. The boy was panting, sweating and almost drooling over her. He did get to kiss her hand before Simon Cowell shooed him back on stage to do what he was supposed to do.

Mountain gave it all he had as he impressed the judges with the Hunter Hayes’ tune, “Wanted.” The 19-year-old got through and Cowell gave him some wise advice. He told him, “Just take a very long cold shower before you sing.”

An audition that turned into Simon Cowell’s worst nightmare, well, one of them anyway, was all thanks to a male-female duo called Second Hand High. Their catchy tune, “Ask Me To Dance,” caused quite a stir as Kelly Rowland got up off her chair to dance over the only male judge at the table.

Cowell found it a bit annoying, even nightmarish, as they spoofed a dream sequence of her and Demi Lovato singing that rap. Rowland was shaking her booty and Lovato asked him to dance in a creepy kind of way. The music mogul himself even rapped at the end with a blond female and his ex-fiance, Mezhgan Hussainy, helping him out. However, the fun ended for the singing twosome as Cowell told them that they should be called ‘Deluded’ instead and sent them on their way.

Now that the rap song will be stuck in everyone’s head for quite a while, the other contestants that made it through will get to find out if they made it to the top 40 on tonight’s show. The judges will also find out which group of singers they will end up grooming for the competition.

“The X Factor” continues tonight at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
