"An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not harm, all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:10-12
How often do we as women, Christian or not, married or single, long to find our worth?
The media suggests we are worthy if we look like magazine models, wear a certain brand of undergarments, often displayed larger than life in malls and shopping centers, have perfect hair, teeth, faces and measurements. Women are expected to do it all, have it all together and look like a million while juggling our husband's and children's needs, sometimes home schooling, activities and health, not to mention the career you studied so hard for, running the home, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, balancing the budget, volunteering, all those little emergencies and don't forget taking care of the pets!
Whew, makes ya tired just going through the list! While all these people and things in life are valuable and some more important than others, they are not what defines you. A career or a loved one enhances you, but they are not what makes you valuable.
As I learned from loosing almost everything I once held dear, and at the time derived my worth from, they are human and they are fallible. So where does a woman, longing for value, that is so often neglected or shattered in this fallen world find it?
In the promises of her heavenly Father!
Dear one, He has engraved you upon His heart! Jesus knows your name, the very number of hairs on your head. He inspired the desires of your heart, He knows the frailties of your nature, the longing to be loved, appreciated and accepted, the passion to leave an indelible positive mark in this world...He gave you those attributes! Jesus instilled His heart into yours to be the cinderella, to be rescued from the drudgery and horrors of what we so often endure. And you dear girl, no matter what your age, your background, your success or failures, if you love the Lord, are a daughter of the King of Kings!
Lift up your head and walk this world like the royal princess you are....not a diva, but secure in your loveliness, your beauty, that doesn't come from cosmetics or surgery, you precious heart that cares for those around you and knowing that you are hand crafted in the likeness of our living God! You are a chosen and well loved daughter of our Heavenly Father. He cares deeply for you and esteems you greatly!
Yes, a godly wife is the jewel in her husband's crown...and I pray those men do or learn to appreciate you. And to those women who have been abandoned by their earthly fathers or husbands, please know that you are the precious jewel in the crown of King Jesus. Let not your heart be troubled, you are greatly valued and worth more to our risen Lord than anything this world can offer!
