Joining a growing list of popular gaming characters from several different franchises that will become new playable avatars within Minecraft’s Skin Pack 6 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, 4J Studios is adding new avatar skins based upon the Dragon Age franchise. Bioware first announced on June 20 that the cast of their popular fantasy series would be heading to the blocky creation title as part of Skin Pack 6.
Like all Minecraft skin packs, the upcoming add-on will allow fans to completely change the visual appearance of the title’s default avatar models. With Skin Pack 6, which will only be available on Xbox console, players will be able to choose from a wide selection of skins that are inspired by different popular game characters. In addition to the newly announced Dragon Age skins, the upcoming DLC will also feature avatars representing figures from Killer Instinct, State of Decay, Trials Fusion, Mirror’s Edge: Faith, and more.
Bioware first introduced the crossover between the Dragon Age and Minecraft universes by informing fans that the new upcoming add-on for the sandbox creation title could help pass the time before the third installment of the role-playing series launches later this fall. The developer hopes that gamers can revisit characters from the series’ past before Dragon Age: Inquisition releases on Oct 7.
The Dragon Age characters included as part of Minecraft’s Skin Pack 6 DLC feature several members from the cast of the franchises second title. Gamers will receive avatar skins based upon both the male and female versions of Dragon Age II’s protagonist, Hawke. Additionally, the add-on will also feature skins for Varric, Fenris, Isabela, and Flemith
Despite the fact that Minecraft is also now available on the PS3 and is scheduled to launch on the PS4 and PS Vita in August, Skin Pack 6 will release exclusively for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions of the game. The exclusivity makes sense for the DLC pack’s skins based upon Microsoft-only games such as Killer Instinct and State of Decay. However, series like Dragon Age appeared across multiple platforms meaning Playstation fans will simply miss out on the skins.
