According to the U.S Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife Service’s 2011 National Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife Associated Recreation Survey, nearly 40 million licensed anglers generate $46 billion in retail sales for a $115 billion in impact on the nation’s economy and creating employment for over 800,000 people. There’s no crying in fishing but those kind of numbers do choke me up, Hurrah for the fishing enthusiasts and the impact those dollars will have on the sport and conservation.
The sport of fishing is going strong
The global recreational fishing show of the year, ICAST 2014 will converge on the Orange County Convention Center July 15-16, 2014. Hotel rooms are booked up as the premier trade event, produced by the American Sportfishing Association presents the 57th Annual International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades gets under way in Florida.

For the second year in a row, the International Fly Tackle Dealer Show produced by American Fly Fishing trade Tackle Association will co-show convention with ICAST at the Orlando, Florida location for the biggest event of the year and the largest sportfishing show anywhere on the planet. If fishing is your business then ICAST is your venue.

Social media has in conjunction with ICAST works to get the new news out
Thanks to social media the new fishing news is able to get to the people in “real time.” This is exciting for exhibitors and the marine companies they represent. New product is on the lips and minds of anglers and looked forward to. Anglers are able to ask their local fishing businesses for the new gear and get the tackle and fishing gear stores looking for the purchase to keep their customers happy and coming back for more of the latest in fishing innovations.
