Earlier today, book publisher Dark Horse Comics and game developer CD Projekt Red announced plans to release a new companion book, “The World of The Witcher”, for the developer’s popular action-RPG series, “The Witcher”, next year.
Developed by CD Project Red, “The Witcher”, is based on a novel series by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski, and follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is a Witcher, skilled monster hunters that are gifted with supernatural abilities, and throughout his journey, where the player’s choices affect the world around them, he is faced with a variety of powerful foes. The series has seen two games, and a third, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, is slated for release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in North America, published by WB Games, next year. “The World of The Witcher” is a hardbound companion book, that will contain never before published original art from each of the games in the series. Readers will get a glimpse at the game franchises’ world, including the locales, the weapons that players use, the characters that they will meet and the monsters that they will slay.
Dark Horse Comics will release “The World of The Witcher” on February 24, 2014. That is also the same day that is listed for the release of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, which will be released in both a standard and collector’s edition.
The standard edition ($59.99) of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will include an official soundtrack, a map of the in-game world, unique stickers, and “Witcher Universe - The Compendium”. The collector’s edition ($149.99) comes with everything in the standard edition, along with an exclusive Witcher medallion, a SteelBook game case, a two-hundred page art book, outer and inner collector’s boxes and a 33x24x26, hand painted, Polystone figure of Geralt battling with a griffin.
