Michael Evans is one of the foremost Messianic Jews regarding history and on his website he predicts President Barack Obama is preparing what he calls as a new Middle East peace initiative that calls for the split of Jerusalem with East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state. Evans predicts that Obama will probably meet with Palestinian leaders either in Jericho or Bethlehem.

Already advanced preparation is being done by newly appointed secretary of state John Kerry who will be meeting in Ramallah to begin advanced work for the new initiative.
Unfortunately, this new initiative isn’t very new according to the Bible.
Regarding Jerusalem itself hardly any location has more history than when King David captured what was called “Salem” from the Jebusites thousands of years ago. Jewish historical claims predate others by centuries, in fact Mohammed who founded Islam nor the Koran have any references for the Holy City of God.
The name Palestine received its name from the references of Judea from the Roman Emperor Hadrian who changed the maps of the world to the mortal enemy of the Jews, the Philistines. The Bible prophets recognized that the world would become increasingly anti-Semitic and even noted that Jewish claims of ownership to the land of Israel would be challenged by current day nations. The prophet Joel 3: 1-2 directly warns:
“For behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom thy have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.”
Plots to scatter or destroy the Jews have been repeated by a variety of conquerors, dictators and kings. Jesus said that “Jerusalem would be trampled upon by the Gentiles, until the time of the Gentiles were fulfilled”. Many theologians point to the rebirth of Israel in 1948 as a signal that “the time of the Gentiles have been completed”. The recapture of Jerusalem into the control of Israel in 1967 initiated the prophetic clock for the scheduled end time events.
World powers have crumbled in the past by being on the wrong side of Biblical history or God’s will. What interests prophetic scholars is nothing is mentioned about the United States as a major player in the final curtain of prophesy. The Bible mentions “the young lions” or the “off spring of Israel”, but nothing significant is declared in the Bible concerning America.
Should America take up the task of taking part in parting the land of Israel with its mortal enemies, there could be three reasons why we aren’t mention.
One is there will be a tremendous financial collapse of America and the world economic system that will relegate it to a less than 3rd world status. A world leader will arise to lead the world out of the economic chaos….yep, you guessed it, the anti-christ. A one world government and religious system will be implemented as a condition for compliance as predicted in the Bible.

The second possibility is nuclear terrorism will force America to the sidelines as Islamic fundamentalism assumes control of nuclear weapons and threatens to detonate devices in multiple American cities if we interfere. With Iran on the verge of achieving nuclear power, it has the will and the means to destabilize the planet. The third is the rapture of the church will decimate America’s population and destabilized our government where it assumes the role of irrelevancy in end time history. The desire to secularize into a world community will drive America in line to willingly accept its role as a minor player of a new world order. All of these issues stack up precisely as warned in the Bible by the Jewish major and minor prophets of old. The locations, countries and motives have already been declared by the word of God.
“I will put a hook in the jaw of nations concerning Jerusalem” is a prophetic utterance taken right from the Bible for the end times. It’s a spiritual battle that focuses on the forces of light and darkness.
The parting of Jerusalem and Israel is an issue that already has been discussed by Jewish prophets.
