Orion System Integrators Inc. is often confused with other companies that have similar names. For instance, there are other companies called Orion Systems Inc. and Orion Systems. But, Orion System Integrators (Inc.) seems to be the only one involved with Information Technologies (IT). IT is a very broad term and covers a lot of ground, as does their general description—For nearly two decades Orion Systems Integrators, Inc. has developed, integrated, deployed[,] and managed IT services and solutions for leading financial, retail, telecom, pharmaceutical[,] and government organizations—which can be found in many different places on the internet. I will explain their IT services a little more clearly below and then I will talk about some of this company’s awards, honors, and distinguishing attributes. Lastly I will talk about founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suhil Mehta and where he is taking the company.
Being involved in the IT world means that Orion System Integrators helps other companies manage their information—keep in mind that this is a very basic and simplistic definition. The company uses many different methods and tools to do this. One such tool is the Microsoft Cloud platform, called Windows Azure. Windows Azure stores all digital files—such as music downloads (MP3s), spreadsheets, and so forth—in one place. However, there are many other methods and tools Orion System Integrators utilizes to manage information. “Orion's well experienced teams of experts are strategists, problem solvers[,] and implementers who understand how leveraging technology can solve real business problems and maximize opportunities.” Orion has “a strong belief in relationship management, Orion's management and software professionals have a passion for excellence that enables the company to deliver solutions that are on target, on time and on budget.” Some of the companies that retain Orion’s services include Amazon, IBM (their computers now use the name Lenovo), Bank America, and Coca Cola. Even though it is based in the United States, Orion also operates in India and Latin America and its “global strategy enables Orion to offer seamless development and support onshore, offshore and near shore, providing cost-effective technology solutions.”
Out of all their methods and tools I chose to mention the cloud computing service and the reason I did this is that I want to talk about an honor that Orion System Integrators received. First of all, you must understand that Windows Azure is a separate entity, owned by Microsoft, and it is used by other companies. In order to push these companies to strive for excellence Windows Azure created the Circle Program Partnership to honor those companies that showed excellence in cloud computing. In November 2012 Orion was named a Windows Azure Circle Program Partner “for demonstrating a ‘best-in-class’ ability, focus[,] and commitment to meet customers' evolving needs in cloud computing.” This honor “distinguishes [the company] as part of an elite group in Microsoft's partner ecosystem”. It also gives Orion “first-hand access to cutting-edge technology and platforms along with unique Microsoft sponsored incentive programs to share with customers.” According to president and CEO Sunil Mehta “Orion is extremely excited to be selected as an Azure Circle Partner.…We are proud to be able to extend the benefits of the cloud to our customers[,] like faster time to market and a reduction in TCO [(Total Cost of Ownership)].”
Sunil Mehta is also the founder of Orion System Integrators and 73% of employees think he is doing a good job as CEO. Under Mehta the company is very committed to job creation, which is why it was ranked by Inc. magazine in their newly created Higher Power Awards. “Orion generated 176 jobs from 2008 to 2011, placing it #4 among the top 10 private business job creators within the state of New Jersey and #8 in the top 10 private business job creators in the IT industry in the entire US.” Mehta said, “It is an honor to receive this award and know that we have been able to positively impact economic growth in New Jersey and the US. Our organization is dedicated to continuing to strengthen our footprint in the US and creating additional job opportunities in the IT industry”.
