The Workings of KCOMM

If you have been fallowing my articles, then you will remember the article about Sinan Kanatsiz, the founder of KCOMM. This article might inspire feelings of déjà-vu, but it will focus more on the company than the man behind it. KCOMM is an international public relations (PR) firm specializing in the internet and rakes in millions of dollars annually. KCOMM proclaims itself to be “dedicated to providing cost-effective and results-driven communications services to our clients.” As a PR firm the company manages how another company, group, or individual presents itself to the public. The “approach [of KCOMM] is straightforward. It is to deliver the highest-value counsel and solutions to maximize our clients' marketing and business goals including market entry/leadership, product positioning, brand preference, sales growth[,] and corporate citizenship.” But, how does it accomplish this and what makes it such a responsible and trustworthy company?

In the case of a company KCOMM may begin by developing a start-up campaign for the company so that the company can present itself to potential consumers. This is market entry. Or it may work with a company so as to support improvements. In April of 2007 KCOMM was working with T-mobile, the cellular phone carrier, to get an ordinance passed that would improve cell service in LA County and other southern parts of California so as to improve sales and brand preference in the state.

In the beginning KCOMM was just a small PR firm that only dealt with PR for companies, but now it is a full-service PR firm that deals with groups as well. This often means helping a group get the word out about something. As KCOMM is based in Orange County, California it should come as no surprise that the company regularly works with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).One of its past projects involving OCTA had to do with designing and implementing an electronic newsletter.

As a full- service PR firm KCOMM, like many other PR firms, sometimes deals with electoral candidates running for office. Because, as any elected official will tell you, communication is the key to a good campaign—communication with groups such as the public and incumbents.

Hopefully I have properly explained the functions of KCOMM and provided adequate examples. The reason I said it is a responsible and trustworthy company is because it gives so much back and supports so many charities.
