The wonderful world of webcomics

In the realm of cartoons there resides the wonderful world of WebComics. Thanks to the creation of the internet, artists now have a way to syndicate their own comic strips for the entire world to enjoy rather than relying on getting it printed in the Sunday Funnies.

The creators of these comics are individuals just like you and me. They utilize the web as a vehicle to express themselves. Some share humor found in work or family experiences while others simply like to make people laugh. The inspirations behind these comics are as individualized as the people who create them.

Another aspect of WebComics that simply can’t be ignored is the variations in style. Just as the colorful montage of creativity flows from opening the Sunday Funnies, comics on the internet can open up a wide range of artistic styles which engage their readers. From the simplicity of line sketches to extraordinary detail, from vibrant colors to extreme compositional angles, the possibilities are endless.

Finally, there has to be a purpose for the WebComic’s creation to begin with. Maybe it’s founded on acting as a creative outlet or a method to encourage goal setting. Could simply be a fun way to spend a quiet evening or maybe the idea of fame is on the horizon. What ever the reason we should certainly appreciate the WebComic creator for taking time out to make us laugh. Some days that’s no easy task, yet those are the days when we need them the most.

If you are a fan of webcomics...be sure to check out the comments section below where you can find a list of awesome comics which the creators were kind enough to share with you.  There are litterally pages of comics to view since ony 20 are allowed on each page!  Simply click on the Next... at the bottom of the each comments section to continue to view them all.  It will be well worth your time!

Want to create your own webcomic? Check out How to start a webcomic for instructions on getting yours started.

    Title: Floppy Boy

Rating: ~R (for blood, violence and language)

Inspiration: Floppy Boy is my public Diary. It's there to make fun of the stupid things I do, my friends, and my work as an Artist/Businessman. It owes its color and line work style to modern anime. (Gundam in particular) It's writing is difficult to pin down, but Garfield minus Garfield has played a significant role in it's development.

    Updated: Every Monday

Tools: Initially, Floppy Boy was drawn by hand, scanned, and colored in Adobe Photoshop. Now I draw directly in Adobe Illustrator and color in Photoshop. The result is cleaner line work, more consistent characters and shorter turn around times. (no scanning!)
