Saturday August 24rd 2013 the 10th Annual Labor Day Luncheon & Style Show by The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, to benefit March of Dimes; took place at The Omni Hotel, located in the prestigious Post Oak neighborhood minutes from upscale shopping of the Houston Galleria.
The event ignited at 10am with a Boutique Bazaar, featuring 25 of the top boutiques. The Bazarr was followed by the extravagant, tasty luncheon from Omni Hotel catering. A style seminar and fashion show by Todd Ramos entertained guest as they sipped red and white wine to wash down the cuisine. The event encompassed styles by Holly Thompson; who showcased her Fall/Winter 2013 colors and influences that included accessories, dresses, jewelry and bags. She demonstrated looks from peplum to pencil skirts adorned with a heavy mix of colors vs. monochromatic silhouettes.
Sexy, style, elegance and extraordinary; are no avenge to the fashion competition and ambiance this event produced. From the extravagant presentation to the professional seamless transitions throughout the event; I was truly amazed and inspired. I could place my finger on the exact reason as to why this is The Woman’s Hospital of Texas’ largest event and fundraiser.
KTRK ABC 13 news anchor Miya Shay emceed the Emerald City-themed event most appropriately described as “The land of OZ, where attendees found more than ruby slippers.
This year’s event theme was inspired by the timeless, magical tale of “The Wizard of Oz.” The event was chaired by The Woman’s Hospital of Texas CEO Linda Russell and March of Dimes Guild member Michelle L. Smith.
Ten percent of the proceeds from purchased items benefited the March of Dimes Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Family Support Program at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, which supports families who have a baby hospitalized in the NICU.
“It’s an honor to join the March of Dimes in their efforts to prevent premature birth and advance the healthcare of infants,” said Russell. “Every year we look forward to hosting this event and raising funds for this truly inspiring cause, and I feel that this year will be something incredibly special, fun and unique.”
About the Woman’s Hospital of Texas
The Woman's Hospital of Texas is Houston's FIRST Woman's Hospital. The hospital was established in 1976 by a group of physicians who recognized the need for a facility focused solely on the care of women and infants. In keeping with this vision, Woman's offers a full range of women's services, including breakthrough developments in minimally invasive surgery such as Robotic Surgery, and urogynecology. The hospital has an antepartum unit, 36 labor and delivery rooms, a medical surgical unit and 124-bed Levels II and III Neonatal Intensive Care nurseries. Since its inception, The Woman's Hospital of Texas has welcomed over 200,000 babies into the world and delivers more babies in Houston than any other hospital. Our experienced physicians specialize in high-risk deliveries, from handling preemies weighing less than 1,500 grams to offering a comprehensive Multiples Clinic for women having twins, triplets, or more. In addition, the Woman's Hospital of Texas was twice named a top performer in quality measures by the Joint Commission, and has been designated as a Center of Excellence for Continence Care in Women by the National Association for Continence.
