“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31: 25-26
Women today can be bombarded with a plethora of images and messages that can have a significant impact on what they wear, think, say, and do. For example, the latest magazine may make women think they have to wear certain clothes while television may make them think they should say certain things. There are numerous sources constantly shaping and forming the opinions that woman have of themselves.
It is important for women to understand that the world and all it has to offer is temporary. If you take a look at these verses in Proverbs it is easy to see that temporary or materialistic things are not what make up a woman of God.
These verses describe a woman that is not sustained by the temporary clothes on her back, but instead by the eternal strength and dignity she has in Christ Jesus. This verse goes on to say, “…and she smiles at the future.” A woman of God smiles at the future not because she knows what it brings but because she knows regardless of what it brings her hope is in Christ Jesus. She also smiles because she knows that the strength and dignity God has placed within her will help her to withstand anything the world may put her through.
A woman of God opens her mouth in wisdom. She does not speak foolishly but instead seeks God and opens her mouth in wisdom. She does not use her tongue to speak harshness and lead others astray but instead uses it to speak kindness and bring glory to God. These are the qualities of a woman of God from the Bible’s perspective. I encourage you to put your hope in God so that He may mold and shape you into the woman He has called you to be with each day that passes.
