"The Wolverine" was No. 1 for movie digital sales and rentals from Dec. 2 to Dec. 8, 2013, according to Rentrak. The list includes Internet Video on Demand (iVOD) and Electronic Sell-Through (EST), for both Standard-Definition and Digital HD movie purchases and rentals. (Rentrak's chart for movies on demand is a chart that ranks movies rented through traditional TV outlets.) Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality. "The Wolverine" got mixed reviews from critics but it was a hit in movie theaters.

"We're the Millers" fell from No. 1 to No. 2. A veteran pot dealer (played by Jason Sudeikis) creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico. So he recruits a stripper (played by Jennifer Aniston) and two teen misfits (played by Emma Roberts and Will Poulter) to pose as his wholesome family, who call themselves the Millers. "We're the Millers" also stars Ed Helms, Nick Offerman and Kathryn Hahn. "We're the Millers" got mostly negative reviews from critics but was a huge hit at the box office.

"Red 2" descended from No. 2 to No. 3. In "Red 2," the high-octane action-comedy sequel to the worldwide sleeper hit, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world—and stay alive in the process. Starring Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker with Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough. "Red 2" got mixed-to-negative reviews and did mediocre business at the box office.

"Man of Steel" dropped from No. 3 to No. 4. A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue and Russell Crowe. "Man of Steel" got mixed reviews from critics, but that didn't stop the movie from being one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

"Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" debuted at No. 5. Percy Jackson (played by Logan Lerman) has had an unnervingly quiet school year. But then he discovers that the magical borders protecting Half Blood Hill are failing. Unless something is done, the camp will be attacked by demons and monsters. The only way to restore power to the camp's borders and to save their home is to find the mythical Golden Fleece. And the only ones who can undertake this dangerous quest are Percy and his friends. Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle), they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate Evil. "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" got mostly negative reviews from critics and did poorly at the box office.
