"The Wolf of Wall Street" rose from No. 10 to No. 1 for movie digital sales and rentals from July 7 to July 13, 2014, according to Rentrak. The list includes Internet Video on Demand (iVOD) and Electronic Sell-Through (EST), for both Standard-Definition and Digital HD movie purchases and rentals. (Rentrak's chart for movies on demand is a chart that ranks movies rented through traditional TV outlets.) The Wolf of Wall Street" (directed by Oscar winner Martin Scorsese) is based on the true story/memoir of Jordan Belfort, the disgraced Wall Street executive who founded the New York firm Stratton Oakmont and led a renegade group of stockbrokers to defraud investors of millions. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Belfort in the movie, which has graphic depictions of Belfort's greed and addictions to drugs and illicit sex. Also starring Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler and Rob Reiner. "The Wolf of Wall Street," which was a hit with audiences and critics, received five Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

"The Lego Movie" held steady at No. 2. This original 3-D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared. The movie's voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. "The Lego Movie" was highly praised by critics and was a blockbuster in cinemas.

"Rio 2" dropped from No. 1 to No. 3. It’s a jungle out there for birds Blu, Jewel and their three kids in "Rio 2," after they’re hurtled from that magical city to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law. This animated film has an all-star voice cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Will.i.am, Jemaine Clement, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Mann, George Lopez, Rodrigo Santoro, Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Natalie Morales, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jamie Foxx. "Rio 2" got mixed reviews from critics but was a big hit in movie theaters.

"300: Rise of an Empire" fell from No. 3 to No. 4. After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land. Starring Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green. "300: Rise of an Empire" got mixed reviews from critics, but it was a big hit with movie-going audiences.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" re-entered the chart at No. 5. Sales for the movie surged around the week that the sequel "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" was released in cinemas. In "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (originally released in 2011), Will Rodman (played by James Franco), a scientist at biotechnology company Gen-Sys, takes home a baby chimp whose mother had been experimented on in a Gen-Sys lab. The chimp is named Caesar, and it soon becomes clear that Caesar has genius-level intelligence. Will raises Caesar almost like a human child, but this unusual arrangement later has dangerous consequences. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" received mostly good reviews from critics and was a worldwide smash at the box office.
