Gina Eppolito is the celebrity manicurist who created the nail art, or the “tacky 90's glamour with acrylics,“ for "The Wolf of Wall Street". The sought-after nail technician gave the Hair and Nails Examiner as much behind the scenes nail art details as allowed from the film directed by Martin Scorsese.
Creating nail-art before nail-art had it’s own hashtag, celebrity manicurist Gina Eppolito brought her artistic skills to the set of "The Wolf of Wall Street", starring Leonardo DiCaprio, to personally transform each character into over-the-top 90’s inspired looks. The Wolf’s wife, played by “Margot Robbie”, attended to her acrylic fills and spray tans like most people attend church on Sundays.
Gina was a perfect fit to be the lead manicurist for “The Wolf of Wall Street”. Having been raised on Long Island in the 90's where authentic acrylics were at their best, Gina and Mindy Hall, lead make up artist for the film, worked together, to create looks not only for each character, but also for each character's wildly creative costumes.
Eppolito brought in a team of nail artists to create more then 100 authentic looks for the movie. Bold colors, French manicures, rhinestones and long square tips were once again in vogue for every female on set of "The Wolf of Wall Street". Even the men were extremely excited about their high shine weekly buff manicure sessions.
The Hair and Nails Examiner talked with Gina, “who stlll has a collection of broken nails from childhood,” at an RCM event in New York City and can’t tout her praises enough. Not only is she a passionate and creative nail artist, but also a humble celebrity herself, impressive considering the famous clientele such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kelly Ripa, Julia Roberts, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Tina Fey, Rachel McAdams, Drew Barrymore, Eva Mendez, Al Pacino, Michael Douglas, Tommy Mottola, Thaila, Rihanna, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Connelly, Paul McCartney, Liv Tyler, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig and Edie Falco, which she has amassed throughout the years
"The Wolf of Wall Street" , which opens out Christmas Day, is one of the most-anticipated films of the year, and the recipient of two Golden Globe Nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor. The movie is a must-see for fashion lovers and nail art aficianados that yearn for the style of the fabulously fierce 90's.
