The Witcher 3 is bringing back its famed character Geralt for one last ride. CD Projekt RED is building one of the largest worlds we've ever seen in the game, and the studio talked about travel as well as customization for game's hero.
Teleporting can be an ability that's useful while in combat, especially when trying to gain an advantage on an opponent. The Witcher 3 Senior Art Producer Michał Krzemiński, however, confirmed that there will not be teleporting in The Witcher 3, even though there will be fast travel.
"No, unfortunately no teleporting for Geralt. As for the horses and boats, we’re continuing the tradition of Roach (the fish, not the bug!), which is a name Geralt gave to each of his horses. Regarding the boats, we’re still tweaking and finalizing that part so I’ll remain silent for now," Krzemiński said.
While teleporting isn't a part of the game, fast travel is. That will help serve as a more efficient means of getting from one area of the map to another. Naval combat will have a presence in The Witcher 3, but like Krzemiński said, they are still finalizing that feature.
Historically, The Witcher has not been a series that grants a whole lot of freedom to players when it comes to altering Geralt's appearance. That said, Krzemiński did say the studio is planning some different options for players to customize Geralt with.
"We’ll give gamers some options to customize Geralt but please remember that he’s a pretty defined character, so totally altering his looks was and will always be out of the question. Don’t worry though, there’s a lot of stuff you can wear in the game that will alter how Geralt looks, including special witcher armour sets, you can upgrade," Krzemiński said.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is heading for retailers and will be launched on Feb. 24 of next year. It will be available only on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
