CD Projekt Red announced today on their English Twitter account that “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will not be coming out for current generation consoles. The third entry in their popular dark-themed RPG series will only be releasing for PC and next-gen consoles. This makes “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” one of the first next-generation titles to be officially announced.
“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” is currently scheduled for a 2014 release and will be the March cover story for Game Informer magazine. The developer is hoping to make the game suitable for those who haven’t played the previous entries of the franchise to be able to pick up and understand without prior knowledge.
The game world of “The Witcher 3” has already been described as 30 time larger than that of “The Witcher 2” and will feature a bigger focus on non-linear open world gameplay. When the game is revealed in more detail after Game Informer’s blowout, it will give more gamers a better idea of what next-generation gaming will be capable of as the world will see some of the first screens of what the new consoles will be capable of.
