'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' dev speaks on use of an open-world and quests (Photos)

Scheduled to appear on the Xbox 720, PS4, and PC, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” was initially announced by GameInformer earlier this month. In addition to the details that were provided previously, yesterday GameInformer conducted a more in-depth video interview with the game's director and lead quest designer.

It was previously revealed that this title would take advantage of the newly developed REDengine 3, which has been designed for the Xbox 720, PS4, and PC. It is stated that the team was satisfied with the performance of the second installment to “The Witcher” franchise, but wanted to take things a step further by incorporating an open world with “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.”

Comparing this upcoming title to “Skyrim,” CD Projekt RED feels that the NPCs within “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will be much more alive and have more depth within each character. Taking on the concept of involving a completely open world within this title, it is stated that players will be rewarded in various ways by exploring the massive amount of territory found within the game.

Quests in “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will be much better than those found in previous titles and the ability to mount a horse will finally be available in this title. CD Projekt RED also notes that they hope the experience gained through developing this title will give them something they can build upon with future open world titles.
