Between E3 2014 and the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, “The Witcher” fans have got plenty to get hyped about. CD Projekt RED annunced on July 10 that they’ll be showing a live 30 minute demo of “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt” gameplay. The room can only seat 1000 so very few people will get to see this 30 minute demo live.
And if that’s not enough to get your excitement running for this game, then maybe a sweet deal on pricing and pre-order bonuses will. Normally when a game is in the pre-order stage, the prices at all stores are within a few pennies of one another. That’s not the case with “The Witcher 3” and GOG.com. With GOG, you can get the complete digital “Witcher 3” game for only $50.99 or even $47.99. That’s a whopping 15% or even 20% off.
All you have to do to get that 20% discount is own “The Witcher” and “The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.” As long as you purchased the PC or Mac versions of “The Witcher” and “The Witcher 2”, you can redeem a backup copy on GOG.com. This gives you access to DRM-free versions of the games in you GOG library, and it also unlocks “The Witcher 3” discount.
If you only redeem one of the previous games in “The Witcher” series you get a 15% discount, but if you register both with GOG you get the full 20% off. It doesn’t stop with just the game though. You get pre-order exclusives that no other company is offering, some of which are available for immediate download. The immediately available items include:
- “Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition”
- “The Witcher: House of Glass” comic book produced by Dark Horse Comics
- 4 exclusive bonus sound tracks
- Exclusive artwork from the game, some not published anywhere else
- HD wallpapers with never before seen art
- Profile icons for use on social media sites
- In-depth video about the game’s creation and all trailers in 1080p
Items guaranteed to you, but available at a later date, or at the game's release, include:
- “The Witcher Adventure Game” multiplayer closed beta access for two people
- “The Witcher” full soundtrack
- Digital artbook with over 200 pages of original art
- World map
And GOG says there are more great bonuses to come. And with the wait until February, CD Projekt RED may add some great new exclusives to the downloadable release.
GOG only offers downloadable content. They do not ship physical copies of games. If you want “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Collector’s Edition” with all the physical goodies, like the physical artbook, Geralt battling a griffin statue and the medallion, then you’ll still need to buy from a store that offers physical game delivery.
“The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt” will be available in stores and for download on February 24, 2014.
