Pat Slattery in Melbourne, Australia owns a unique gifted program called WiseOnes which she has successfully used “down under” since 1998. They are made up for a number of curriculum units developed for gifted six to fourteen year olds, and can be adapted for both in school and after school programs. She thinks they could be used in many other countries. Most of them are held online and are complete with teaching aids and references.
Pat is the Director of the company that manages the Trust that owns the property. She says “They are designed for groups of 8 in primary school or 12 in the junior secondary level- ages 12-14 , and are compatible with all faiths as we use Socratic questioning and send them home to talk to their parents about the issues raised.
For those interested in taking up a License to use them, I’d be happy to talk to anyone who could help make more use of the intellectual property for the welfare of gifted children. They are not connected to any national or state curriculum and avoid any crossing into the normal work of the classroom teacher.”
For anyone who has questions about the WiseOnes program, you can email Pat directly at <patwise@tpg.com.au>
