Spend a day at several of Oklahoma vineyards and wineries with a trip to Stroud just 60 miles northeast of Oklahoma City where you can visit four wineries in the area. Start at The Wine Village of Sparks Vineyard downtown Stroud on Route 66 where you can enjoy wine tasting and relax in the outdoor courtyard. Enjoy the art on display in the banquet hall that is available for special events. Their Raspberry Wine was awarded a State Fair Gold Medal in 2008. My favorite is the Deep Fork Red.
Just a short distance west on Route 66 you will find StableRidge Vineyards and Winery located in a quaint Catholic church that dates back to 1898. Take time to relax and sit on the deck in vineyard. You may want to try one their cheese and cracker baskets while you enjoy the vineyard. My favorite here is Wild Thang a blend of four wines. I also enjoy the gift shop at StableRidge which has a great selection of wine racks, glasses, and home décor items.
At the junction of Route 66 and Highway 99 is The Grape Junction. Located in an old renovated gas station the Grape Junction offers a causal setting for wine tasting amid collectibles and antiques. Be sure to sample the Black Gold wine while you are here.
Then head north on Highway 99 to Territory Cellars where you can not only enjoy wine tasting but on Thursdays and Fridays you can enjoy lunch or dinner in the great room. The menu changes weekly so you are in for a different experience each time you visit. My favorite here is the red table wine, Pow Wow. Ask about the dancer on the label of this wine before you leave.
