As the hotbed of wine and micro-brew culture that it is, Charlottesville’s Memorial Day Weekend celebrations had to include celebrations around beer and wine. The holiday weekend is chock full of events in an easily driven radius. Celebrations continue on Sunday May 25 of Memorial Day Weekend 2014. Can you make it to enjoy all the activities? Here’s your guide to what’s happening where and when, so you can make the most of your travels.

Laying off the sauce? No worries. There’s plenty of other ways to celebrate your Memorial Day weekend in Charlottesville. Grow your brain cells with a historic walking tour or take in an art show. Ride the Hatton Ferry in Scottsville or visit a local American castle. Pick strawberries or select other fresh produce at local farmers markets dispersed through the region. You can even attend a Mystery Dinner Theater, a local flea market or an antique car show.

All day Sunday, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Wintergreen Resort will hosts its 2nd Annual Cliffhanger Mountain Bike Challenge. Drive up the mountain anytime 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. to enjoy an open-air arts & crafts fair on the Blue Ridge Terrace and the Blues, Brews & BBQ festival, featuring micro-brews. The Battle of the Bands rages all day. Wintergreen Resort is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at 39 Mountain Inn Loop in Wintergreen (434.325.2200).

Take a country drive in beautiful Nelson County and wind your way to Devils Backbone Brewing for a meal and one of two live performances on Sunday: Gary Randal at noon and at 6:00 p.m., Tony Bruno. Wintergreen Resort is just up the road, and Wild Wolf Brewing Company is just down the road; a pub crawl in the mountains might be a grand way to spend the holiday. On Sunday May 25, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Trump Winery offers live music, wine tastings and gourmet delights from their kitchen. Trump Winery, located at 3550 Blenheim Road in Charlottesville is open from 11 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (434.977.3895).

Want some cheese with that wine? On Sunday afternoon, May 25, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Floral Artisanal Cheese joins with Afton Mountain Vineyards for a "Popup Cheese Shop" with Nadjeeb at the Pavilion. Get your glass of wine, walk to the Pavilion and have an expert help you pair up the perfect cheese. Then purchase an extra bottle and cheese round for enjoyment at home. Yappy Hours at Keswick Vineyards honors furry friends and wine. Meet up with other animal lovers from 12:00 -3:00 p.m., and enjoy a glass of award-winning Virginia wine. (Dogs are allowed inside the tasting room, and tastings can also be poured outside so your dogs can play. On Sunday a local animal rescue group will be on site with new animal friends available for adoption into your family.) Learn how great beer is made at Wild Wolf Brewing Company; tour the brewery at 2:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. Then stick around for live music with Jacob Allen and Creekside (7:00-10:00 p.m.) Wild Wolf is located at 2461 Rockfish Valley Highway in Nellysford (434.361.0088).

Celebrate 2014 Memorial Day Weekend on Sunday with French Crepes at DelFosse Vineyards and Winery. It’s like a late breakfast in bed, only your chef lives out in the scenic mountains off of Route 29. Reservations are not required, but calling ahead is appreciated. Set way off in the woods, just getting to Delfosse is part of the fabulous experience. Hike the mountain trail on-site, then fuel up with crepes, and finally, spend the afternoon “chilled” with your wine and live music (1:00-5:00 p.m.). Delfosse Winery is located at 500 DelFosse Winery Lane in Faber (434.263.6100).

Have a picnic on Sunday by the South Fork of the Rockfish River and listen to the sounds of the John Wyant Band while enjoying a glass from Wintergreen Winery (2:00-5:00 p.m.). Once you’re feeling relaxed, take a stroll through the gift shop and find a wine-related memoir of your day. The Wintergreen Winery is located at 462 Winery Lane in Nellysford (434.361.2519).

Democracy Vineyards offers wine, great views and live tunes with Jim and Renee Oliphant of Ragtop from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 (fees apply). Democracy Vineyards is located at 585 Mountain Cove Road in Lovingston (434.264.8463).
