In a Wednesday blog post on the White House website, the Obama administration called out Glenn Beck and his Fox News program for spreading "lies."  The website claimed that Beck and his network told "lies" regarding President Obama's bid to secure the Olympics for the United States in 2016.

Here's an excerpt from the White House blog entry:

Last night Fox News continued its disregard for the facts in an attempt to smear the Administration's efforts to win the Olympics for the United States. In the past, hosting the Olympics has been a source of pride and unity for the country, but once again Fox News' Glenn Beck program has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings.

The blog calls out Beck point by point, attempting to refute the Fox News host's claim, among many, that President Obama and Senior Advisor Valerie B. Jarrett have ulterior motives regarding their bid to win the Olympics for America.

Here is another excerpt from the White House blog:

RHETORIC: VALERIE JARRETT WILL BENEFIT FINANCIALLY. Beck asked, "Is it possible that she is going to benefit if the Olympics come to Chicago?" Caddell responded, "Well, that’s the word. She has certainly had a lot of dealings going on in real estate." [Transcript, Glenn Beck Show, 9/29/09]

REALITY: UPON ENTERING GOVERNMENT, VALERIE JARRETT DIVESTED ALL HER REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT HOLDINGS EXCEPT FOR A SINGLE INVESTMENT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OLYMPIC BID. Valerie Jarrett divested all her investment real estate holdings upon entering government except for a single real estate holding that she was unable to sell. This single real estate investment has been determined by White House Counsel and the independent Office of Government Ethics to present no conflict of interest in performing her duties as a White House advisor. It has nothing to do with the Olympic bid.

Below is a clip from Glenn Beck's Tuesday show, where he discusses the president's desire to win the Olympics for the city of Chicago.  Also, be sure to vote in the poll below.

Good job Glenn Beck. Keep holding the racist socialist's feet to the fire.

The White House is using MY tax money to fight a television network... they want to have complete control over everything. Obama must be stopped.

If anyone should be called out for lying...it's this administration. Thank you Glenn.....we are behind you
and are not as stupid as some in the fringe/main stream media
    want to think we are.

Glenn Beck = Morton Downey Jr.

Glenn Beck clarified on his show that he meant Calgary, not Vancouver. So did Calgary lose money? He also gave a summary of spending on the Vancouver Olympics budget and it looks like they will go into the red anyway...can we get a reporter to verify this information? Also does Valerie Jarret have ties to Tony Rezko? Anyone?

  • Eric 2 years ago

I thought he was harsh on Obama for this, but Obama did previously say that there were more pressing matters and doubted that he would be afforded the time to do that....

I do find it weird that they would comment on this, but not on anything else he has claimed? Am I missing when they did?

Read the book "culture of corruption", nearly all of obama's friends are 'dirty'.

This administration wants everyone to look the other way with regard to its dealing with any topic. HEALTHCARE....lets rush it through before they can see whats its about....CAP & TRADE.....they wont even know what hit them. Thanks Glenn for turning the light on!!!

  • The only smart one here... 2 years ago

Glen Beck is a special interest and GOP lackey who prays on the ignorance, fear, and stupidity of others. Fox News is NOT NEWS it is complete propaganda. The TV programming schedule says it all about who is listening...after the dimwitted shows are over...you get spoon fed your news as well as your opinion.

Keep up the good work Mr. Beck, Your driving the Libs even more wacky than they were... LMAO

  • Samantha 2 years ago

This comment section (with the exception of the smart one) is like a room of idiots worshiping the king of idiots! All we hear is great job, Libs this, and blah blah blah. But still you say nothing. Are you glenn beck cattle-like-followers even capable of conceiving an intelligent thought of your own...our are you just running off at the mouth waiting for him to tell you what to say and think next?

  • Daniel 2 years ago

Wacky Libs? Is that what you call free thinking educated people these days?

  • Dan 2 years ago

    OK?

So you claim Glenn Beck fans are just a bunch of easily led followers who are incapable of thinking for themselves. Strange. . . Why does the phrase "Yes we can" come to mind? So because we won't fall on our faces and worship at the feet of the Obamessiah we are stupid?

Get a clue! You got just enough people to fall for the whole "hope" and "change" B.S. and got this clown elected.

As soon as he got into office he proved to be exactly the opposite of what he projected himself to be, and now that people are seeing him for what he actually is, a socialist, you are getting upset that we question him?

    Yeah..........

Who are the brain-dead followers who can't think for themselves?

    Go Rio!

  • Daniel 2 years ago

No one gets upset that you question - you just don't have any valid points. Socialist? I'll tell you what - you refuse medicare, and if you have any family members (probably parents) who receive medicare take them off of it and pay for their prescriptions and health care out of your own pocket, refuse social security, and any other insurance that governments offer, such as flood insurance for business's..then I'll believe you understand what socialist means and are truly against it.

Bush's $700 billion government bailout (which when all is said and done is more to the tune of $7 trillion) for banks, walls street, insurance companies was by far the LARGEST example of Socialism in US history.

So I don't think anyone cares about you questioning - but try and make a valid point. "Yes we can?" you are talking about a campaign slogan - no point! Even with this last rant of your...no point - no facts - just banter. It's nice to see how glenn can so easily work you guys up

  • Samantha 2 years ago

Great Point Daniel! Lets not hear socialism come out of the mouth of anyone who has a family member/s receiving medicare until they take their families off and pay out of their own pockets. Only then will we believe they are truly against government insurance. Also great point about the Bush administration government bailout - where did that money go? Obama has 8 years of mess to clean up and he has been in office only 8 months. You are right there are no valid points being made here by glenn supporters. They believe they can win an argument or debate with nothing more than a raised voice and fact-less convictions.

  • Matthew 2 years ago

@ Dan. Are you saying or implying that you are happy that the U.S. lost the Olympic bid to Rio? I can completely understand that if you live or are even from Rio. But,if you are American and you are happy to see the U.S. fail because of Obama - then perhaps you should check yourself and your loyalties. I wont accuse you of that, but if that's how you feel, then just come out and say you are happy to see the U.S. fail. If not, then I stand corrected.

  • Dan 2 years ago

Am I happy the U.S. won’t host the Olympics in 2016? No.
Am I happy for the failure of B. Hussein Obama’s plan to line the pockets of Valerie slumlord Jarrett (a.k.a .the other side of Obama's brain, a.k.a. Senate Candidate #1) on the backs of Illinois taxpayers? Yep!
And yes I would be perfectly happy to shut down Medicare and Medicaid in favor of a free-market solution. I cannot in good conscience forcibly take someone else’s money to pay for my healthcare. Government intervention, frivolous lawsuits, and corruption are the reason healthcare is as expensive as it is now.

    so?cial?ism
1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done
    B. Hussein Obama has advocated for collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. GM, Chrysler, JP Morgan, U.S. Bancorp just to name a few thereby producing a : a system or condition of society in which the means of production for a fairly large percentage of our economy are now owned and controlled by the state.
    Yeah, I’d say he’s a socialist.

Dan, thank for joining the conversation - and I mean that sincerely. Lets not be so quick to let the "free market" have it's way. Special interest puts politician in office to do their bidding. One truly cannot get into a position of political power without being somewhat corrupt or compromised.

Lets use the governments telcom break up (divestiture) as an example. How much do you think you would be paying for long distance phone calls (pre cell) if the government did not step in and say "this is a monopoly?" I am not sure how old you are, but I remember paying $12.00/ minute to talk to my husband in the military overseas. Thank god the government intervened. Companies like the insurance companies do not care about you and will charge you as much as they can get away with and let you die when you are broke. The private sector needs to be kept in check and that includes the trial lawyers.

  • Dan 2 years ago

I agree that the government breaking up the AT&T monopoly was good for the average citizen, but that is because the goverment break up resulted in numerous companies competing in a free market, which drobe prices down. Before the government stepped in AT&T was the only game in town, and could charge whatever it wanted. I also believe the advancements in cellular and and internet would have come much more slowly, if at all, had AT&T been allowed to hold its monopoly.
Having said all this, and since we are on the topic of monopolies, do you really think advancments in medicine will happen as quickly, if at all, under a single-payer (governmental monopoly) medical system?
I am not saying there is no role for government, I just believe, and history seems to prove, freedom rings a lttle louder, and citizens live a little more free, under limited government.

  • Dan 2 years ago

    Drove prices down.

    Sorry. On my iphone.

    to the smartest one here!!!!
You are the dumbest one here by far! His decency and courage is what this nation needs. Founding fathers principles and ideas have totally escaped you. And you are probably Godless, like all the other liberals!
