The Whigs were in town tearing up the stage at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia yet again to promote their new album In The Dark. There is really no other way to describe a Whigs experience then to compare them to a three man army whose opponent is one hundred man strong but with the latter having no chance in hell of getting out alive.
Each with their own individual strengths, The Whigs come together to create the perfect army for rock n' roll carnage. Lead singer Parker Gispert with his mind-melding stares, will make you wonder if there really is a team of special forces agents in the military with psychic abilities like in the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats". Bass Player Tim Deaux is like a trained sniper laying low then taking you out from a mile away with eagle eye precision. Julian Dorio is clearly the secret weapon in this 3 man army. He will go all Ninja on you wielding his drumsticks like nun-chucks and pummel you to a bloody pulp then step right over your wasted body and walk away with no looking back. You haven't got a chance, it's best to surrender.
Okay, so my description may be a bit over the top but I challenge you to claim that a night with The Whigs is not an intense experience. You can't help but to be amazed by the lengths The Whigs go to bring the best performance possible for their audience. This combination of talent and determination can not be matched, it just wouldn't be a fair fight. Each time I see them in concert I walk away more and more impressed and eagerly waiting for the next time the boys roll into town to shake the foundation of my beloved city of Philadelphia.
