The West Texas Running Club hosts their first race of the year this Saturday, January 11th at 10am. The Loop the Lake 2 mile and 5 mile races will be held at Buddy Holly Park on North University. This is a relatively flat course starting just west of University Ave on Cesar Chavez Drive. The 2 mile course is contained within the area between the loop and University Ave. The 5 mile course makes one large loop crossing University and going as far east as Ave U and then the shorter loop used by the 2 mile race. The course will be well marked on race day to ensure you’re on the right course.
Registration is $5.00 for running club members and children under 12 and $15.00 for all others. Children must be 7 or older to run the 2 mile race and 13 or older to run the 5 mile race. Online registration runs through Thursday, January 9th at 6pm. There will be no race day registration. Race bibs must be picked up on race day prior to 9:30am.
If you don’t feel like running this race, volunteers are always appreciated. This is a great way to kick off the year. And after this week’s cold temperatures, Saturday’s forecast is shaping up to be great running weather!
