Starting this weekend you can simultaneously shop, save and serve a worthy cause when you visit Greenspring Station, and participate in their The Weigh to Shop Food Drive in conjunction with Maryland Food Bank.
Maryland Food Bank gathers and collects food donations and distributes them to soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency centers across the state of Maryland. Their goal is to service the over $300,000 Marylanders living below the poverty level. This is an especially poignant mission during the holiday season when it is customary for people to gather with their families in celebration over a large meal—and so many families cannot afford to do so.
Between Saturday October 23 and Saturday October 30, 2010 you can help contribute to this mission by heading over to The Nut Farm & Creamery inside Greenspring Station and donating canned goods, with which Maryland Food Bank can fill its pantries for the holiday season. When you do, you’ll receive a discount card to shop at participating stores based on the weight of your donation! Obviously the joy of giving is reward in itself, but 10 – 20% off to shop for jewelry, clothing and other great items is a wonderful incentive to give more.
Shops at which the discount card will be redeemable include: Bare Necessities, Bijoux, Craft Concepts, Essentials by Panache, FRESH Boutique!, The Johns Hopkins Facial Plastic Surgery Center, Magda Fine Fashion, The Nut Farm & Creamery, The Pleasure of Your Company, Trillium, UNO The Salon (retail only, no services) and Wee Chic.
